Qwench is a PHP/mySQL based StackOverflow clone.

Features
1. Allow users to post questions and answers
2. Points system similar to StackOverflow
3. Ability to post an article as a knowledge-base (for corporates)

I was looking for something like this!
I read the license, but i want to ask you, it is possible to modify it to add some features?

  Yes, you can as long as you contribute those changes back to the product. (Very similar to the SMF license)

Nice work, but you should update the DB Layout – above all indexes on foreign keys and may InnoDB if its possible.

  InnoDB won’t work for FULLTEXTSEARCH.

May you need FULLTEXT for your single search table – so you can use InnoDB for all the rest. Just an idea 😉

What’s the chance of setting this project up on GitHub so we can make changes/merges and fix it up a bit.
There’s a few bugs I can see from the outset:
* Stripslashes
* Duplicate emails allowed (odd when it’s the login)

Great work! I was waiting for someone to try and make a StackOverflow clone.
The localization works good except for some strings that are not in _(string) format, so they can not be translated.
I also have a problem when posting comments. If it’s not in English, they show up with a wrong encoding.

Excellent clone. Currently CNProg use for a site of questions and answers I have. But the same is based on Django and Django Sucks. I like how you have implemented many functions, and I think I can make a another function that needs your CMS.
1. Notifications by email of new answers for each question.
2. RSS Feed. For all new questions and new comments for each question.
3. Profiles. Need to accumulate Karma, that’s what I like about StackOverflow. Czech these profiles: http://hasked.com/usuarios/8/samus/
4. Distinctions. This accompanied the Karma of course.
5. Tags & Categories.
I am very impressed with your work. I would probably contact you by email, to see if discussing a job. Contact me when you have spare time.

Was wondering if you are going to add more options to the profile like capability to change avatars?

It looks to me like the points calculation is off.
After the first activity, I see 2 points in the activities table but only 1 in the users table. when accepting an answer, I see 15 in the activities table and now there are 18 in the users table.
Can you explain that?

great work.I have seen your application woking great online .
But when i try to devlop it on my local pc i can only see home page.When i clink on ask/contribute i get a message OBJECT NOT FOUND (ERROR 404 ).
i GET SAME ERROR TO WHEN I CLINK ANY LINK ON THE HOME PAGE.
I have set define(‘BASE_DIR’,’/qwench’);

replace:
var basePath = “/qwench/index.php”;
to:
var basePath = “$basePathNS”;

Amazing work! Not sure how long you took in coding this but its really clean…
I am a little confused about the license. Does it mean that if I modify this for my site (of course retaining all the Qwench copyrights), do I have to contribute back the entire source code?

Very nice, clean and a solid alternative to forum applications out there. This definitely merits being a StackOverflow clone. I’ve checked out several clones and feel that this one has great potential. Heck, it may be production ready, I have not messed around with it other than checking out the demo. I will be check back from time to time.

I’m getting the same error on line 907 and 931. Is this project still active? And of so, how do I fix this? Perhaps a folder needs a different permission set for it

I faced err on 907 & 931 line when i directly run index.php instead of install.php
You are supposed to run instal.php once

why would you create a directory called controllers when the files inside only have functions. The file structure looks as if its an mvc but its all using conventional php.

I have installed script, and am at index.php page… page says Log In and is asking for my email address and password but I never even registed, and when I attempt to put my email address and a password in that I just made up… it does nothing. What am I doing wrong?

I’ve forked this and I’m going through initially fixing it to work in PHP7 (using mysqli_* instead of mysql_* functions). Once I’ve got that done, I’ll have a look at some of the bugs. I hope to get this working, and of course all my changes will be pushed back to my fork. I presume, since you haven’t done any work on this for a few years now, you won’t mind if I do.
